Since the begining of the economic downturn, financing for "Condo Hotels" has dried up. This has resulted in a number of resale listings becoming short sale listings or bank owned listings. This has caused prices to drop dramatically. Consiquently it appears that the market for Resort at Squaw Creek condominiums has bottomed. This is especially true for 2 bedroom valley view condominiums. Since February 2010 we have seen escrow closings on these condominiums at $435,000, $459,000 and $475,000. These have all been cash sales because there is still no financing available for the Resort. |
| |  The Resort at Squaw Creek is a four-star, ski in/ski out, destination hotel located at the base of Squaw Valley, USA. The Resort has recently undergone a transition to hotel condominium ownership through an extensive upgrade and renovation that was completed at the end of 2005. The 403 hotel rooms were converted into Studio units, One, Two and Three Bedroom luxury condominium suites for a total of 238 deeded condominiums. These have been purchased as vacation homes and 95% of the owners participate in the rental program. Therefore, the Resort at Squaw Creek is still a major convention facility and destination hotel. The Two and Three Bedroom condominiums are "Lock Off" units which mean that they can be used, or rented, as suites or individual rooms. |

Over the years, the hotel has earned a reputation as the preferred destination resort hotel for the Squaw Valley and Tahoe area. In the December 2007 issue of the Conde Nast Traveler's Magazine the Resort at Squaw Creek was named on the list of the "Top 50 Ski Hotels in North America."

Of the total 238 condominiums sold by the developer, a number of resales are now on the market. Due to the current slow down in the real estate market some of these resales are priced considerably lower than what they originally sold for.
