An exciting new venture is underway in the North Tahoe-Truckee area. The non-profit Tahoe Food Hub has undertaken the task of creating a regional food system in the area. There are four projects under the auspices of the Food Hub: Farm to Market, Healthy Food Access Program, Community Commercial Kitchen and the Dome Raising Project. Each of these projects will contribute to the Continue Reading

Squaw Valley’s Closing Day
Squaw Valley's 2012-2013 ski season ended Sunday with a beautiful sunny spring day on the upper mountain and a fun Pass Holders Party on the KT 22 Deck Bar. The snow on Shirley Lake and Granite Chief had a firm enough base that even though it was warm and the snow got soft the skiing was really good. I had the pleasure of skiing with my wife Mary Margaret and my daughter Amanda. The Pass Continue Reading
Great Morning of Skiing at Squaw Valley Today
I had a great morning of spring skiing at Squaw Valley today. It had been cold enough last night for the snow to set up and it was a beautiful sunny day. I hiked out from the top of the Granite Chief chairlift into the area called The Glades and had a long wonderful run on nice soft spring snow. I'm glad I got another day in before the season ends this Sunday. Continue Reading

Lots to Do in Spring at Tahoe (the in between season)
Even though I hate to see the ski season end I always get excited by the emergence of Spring. The days are longer than the nights, the snow melts away so Lake Tahoe’s beaches, hiking and biking trails open up, some of the days are really warm and we start to see boats and paddle boards on the lake and the golf courses are starting to open. There is also lots of live music and some fun Continue Reading
Tahoe Real Estate Market Has Hit the Bottom and Is Going Up
As I was saying in the last quarter of 2012, the Tahoe-Truckee Market has bottomed. The clear evidence of this is the strongest 1st quarter of the year that we have seen in several years. According to Chase International Realty, Median Home Prices showed the greatest increase in lakeside communities around Lake Tahoe; 34% increase over the 1st qtr. of 2012. If you combine the three major ski Continue Reading

Le Chamois, A Long Time Favorite At Squaw Valley
Here is a good story from PowderMag.com on the most popular ski bar in the North Tahoe area. "The Chammy" in the base area at Squaw Valley has been a favorite for as long as I can remember, and I have been a season pass holder since 1982. It is the arranged meeting place for the end of the ski day for both locals and regular Squaw skiers. It is so popular that KSL has decided to preserve it in Continue Reading

It is limited to 50 participants, usually dressed in crazy costumes, who will ski or snowboard down the lower section of the Mountain Run and attempt to skim across the Continue Reading
