Tahoe Real Estate Sales Up 26 Percent in 3rd Quarter of 2018

Million-Dollar Homes Push Sales Sales volume around Lake Tahoe continued to climb in the third quarter, up 26 percent lake-wide from this time last year. The continued increase came primarily for homes sold for more than $1 million, which was up 32 percent. Homes sold for less than a million was down five percent. Olympic Valley Micro Transit Approved By Placer County

A locally spearheaded move to reduce traffic and parking congestion in both Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows has been approved by Placer County.  The plan is for on demand shuttle service that will pick up and drop of customers in areas that are close to the regular Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit (TART) routes that feed both Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley resorts.  Customers will access the service through a smart phone app.  This will be funded by a 1% fee attached to daily... Read more »

Squaw Wins Second Round in Law Suits By Sierra Watch

Two  Sierra Watch law suits challenging Squaw Valley’s approved Village Expansion Proposal have now been ruled against by Placer County Superior Court Judge Michael W. Jones.  The current decision was on a challenge by Sierra Watch to the adequacy of the Environmental Impact Report in regards to regional impacts such as, emergency evacuations, noise, greenhouse gases, traffic, and water impacts.  The judge ruled that the EIR did adequately address those issues. The North Tahoe Truckee real estate market has changed since my last mid month report in May 2018.  Here is the comparison between mid August and mid May of this year. Total number of single family home listings is 89% higher than it was in mid May. Number of homes listed in the last 30 days is 112% more than in mid April to mid May. Judge Rules in Squaw’s Favor Against Sierrra Watch

Sierra Watch has lost the first round in it’s fight against Squaw Valley Ski Holdings (SVSH) county approved plan to greatly expand the size of the Village at Squaw Valley.  The lawsuit claims that the Placer County Board of Supervisors violated the State of California Brown Act when SVSH agreed to pay a $440,000 Air Quality Mitigation Fee to the Tahoe Regional Planing Agency (TRPA) and that information was not made available to the public within 72 hours of the 11/15/16 Board of Supervisors... Read more »

$3.5 Million Allocated For Trail System Expansion

2018 Mid Year Market Report for Lake Tahoe

The price of a home in Lake Tahoe jumped 18 percent from this time last year, making the median price of a home $679,500. Sales also continued to climb, with overall volume sold up 27 percent. The figures are part of a quarterly report released by our company, Lake Tahoe-based Chase International. Squaw/Alpine Gondola Draft EIR Released

Placer County and the U. S.
