Zephyr Cove

Zephyr Cove has been one of the most popular Resort and Beach areas in all of Lake Tahoe since its inception in 1862. From its beginning it was a destination for the rich and famous, especially those from San Francisco and Hollywood because of its special setting, its Lodge and Restaurant, numerous log cabins of all sizes, and its mile long sandy beach for swimming and boat tours of the lake via the Tahoe Queen paddle-wheeler and Woodwind catamaran, make this a popular area even today. Zephyr Cove has 82 homes, many of original ‘Old Tahoe’ style with several modern mountain homes, and many homes have views of the lake and western Sierra Mountains, and some homes are located on the waterfront with a sandy beach and boat moorings.

Zephyr Heights and Zephyr Knoll are located on a quite, steep hill above Hwy 50. The 199 homes of Zephyr Heights are primarily accessed on North Martin Drive, toward the top where the homes have views of the Lake. The 61 homes of Zephyr Knolls are primarily accessed from Lakeview Drive. These homes also have great views of the lake, Zephyr Cove Resort, and Cave Rock. Homes in both areas range from ‘Old Tahoe’ style homes to ultra-modern homes in heavily forested and mostly quiet neighborhoods.   

Zephyr Heights has a small commercial area on Hwy 50 comprised of a vacation resort, a professional office building with a restaurant on the ground floor, convenience store, and a local’s favorite; Sam’s Place restaurant.   Across Hwy 50 is a large campground, a Fire department, a Senior Center, a Library, the Douglas County elementary, middle and high school. These neighborhoods are well situated for both lake enjoyment and all the amenities of living near the city.
